On the 29th April 2018 Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki, the current Director of Studies and leader of the Servants of the Light School of Occult Science announced her retirement, effective from the 11thJune 2018, her 89th birthday.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally and publicly thank Dolores for her incalculable and invaluable contribution to the Western Mystery Tradition and to the thousands of students who have experienced her workshops and talks. This is in addition to our amazing personal relationship over the last 26 years and for everything that I have learnt from Dolores. Without her, I would not have the privilege of being initiated into all the levels of the Western Mysteries and Helios would not exist today!
Dolores has worked tirelessly for nearly 50 years travelling, teaching, writing, organising workshops and running the Servants of the Light (SOL). Indeed when I first joined SOL in the early 1990’s there was only the original First Degree Course that the Founder, Ernest Butler had written. Dolores wrote the Second Degree Training, instituted the Second and Third Degree Initiations and wrote and presented a wide variety of workshops on topics ranging from spellcraft and astral travel to the high ceremonial magic of the Egyptian Tradition.
My first experience of Dolores’s amazing “Within the Temple” Workshops was in 2001 when I attended her “Within the Temple of Anubis” Workshop in mid-Wales. This was literally a life-changing experience for me, and it was during that weekend that I realised my own true path was to teach the Mysteries and carry Dolores’s work on in a new and different way. As a result of that experience and many others like it, Dolores and I collaborated on a series of “Within the Temple” workshops from 2006 until 2010. Dolores’s insight, deep connection to the inner plane contacts and her sense of the dramatic enabled us to create experiences that were memorable and sometimes life-changing not just for us but for many of the participants who attended and took part.
Dolores leaves the SOL in a strong position with a totally new First Degree Training and a new Director of Studies (Dr. Steven Critchley) who she has prepared well for his demanding role. As a Daughter School of the SOL, we look forward to working with Steven and his team at the SOL and wish Dolores the very best for her retirement. Not that Dolores will be sitting back – knowing Dolores she will still be writing prolifically and working on her new “Solar Light” video series.
As Helios is now established and most of the training materials written, I hope that there will be space in both my schedule and her Dolores’s busy schedule for us to collaborate on a few more future workshops together.
